Between Two Worlds (2025)

"Between Two Worlds" came from a series of recent vivid dreams during profound transition. Written in early 2025, I've tried to show the complex emotional landscape of being displaced by war, specifically from Ukraine to Saudi Arabia. The lyrics include several dream symbols which, upon reflection and interpretation, show the process of adapting to radical life changes. At its core, this song wrestles with the challenge of maintaining gratitude while processing grief - how to sincerely thank God for safety and new opportunities while carrying the weight of what was left behind.

Verse 1

Teeth of steel and wires of gold
A life rewired, a story untold
Safe from sirens, safe from war
But pieces of me lie on distant shores

Mother, in dreams you show the way
Through tables marked by yesterday

Chorus

How do I thank You when my heart still bleeds?
How do I praise You when my soul recedes?
Between two worlds, I stand and pray
Guide me through this strange today
Teach me gratitude in shades of grey

Verse 2

Ukraine's winds still whisper low
Through Saudi nights where hot winds blow
Systems failing, parts replaced
But blood runs through this altered space
Mother smiling, drinking sweet
While I search for somewhere to seat

Bridge

In every circuit, in every vein
Flows the memory of what remains
Not broken, just reconfigured now
Learning new ways to show somehow
That gratitude can live with grief
As certainty gives way to belief

Repeat Chorus

Final Verse

In dreams of teeth and golden springs
I find the truth that somehow rings
Through all the changes, all the pain
Your mercy flows like cooling rain
And though this setup isn't home
I trust the path You've shown to roam

Final Chorus

So I will thank You though my heart still bleeds
I will praise You when my soul recedes
Between two worlds, I kneel and pray
Guide me through each strange today
Till gratitude lights up these shades of grey
